About this training course

The PO1 course is designed to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to protect worksites for TfNSW networks(Sydney Trains & NSW Trains). Course fees includes the Participant Workbook, written assessment at the end of day 2 and issue of On-the-job workbook upon successful completion of a written assessment. CAT1 medicals also available on application. Discounts may apply if PO1 & PO2 booked and paid at same time. Practical on the Job Training/Assessment: Candidates must arrange for the completion of nominated practical activities under the supervision of a qualified person.

Requirements for this course

Protection Officer Level 1 training for assessment by TfNSW for work in Sydney Trains are, includes but not limited to:

Applicable TfNSW Network Rules & Procedures,and the following nationally endorsed competencies:
  • TLIF2081 Perform lookout duties
  • TLIF3083 Conduct track protection assessment
  • TLIL3082 Implement absolute signal blocking
  • TLIW2001 Operate under track protection rules
  • TLIW2037 Clip & secure points
  • TLIF2097 Use audible track warning devices

Applicants must hold:

  • TLIF2080 Safely access the rail corridor with a TfNSW Operator role.
  • Around the Track Personnel – National
  • Current CAT 1 medical assessment

Requirements on the day

Provide an original document with Photo ID (e.g. passport, drivers license, student card) on the day top confirm identify Bring a pen and wear comfortable clothing
